Tyre Shine Production Overview

A tyre shine is a water-based formulation designed to restore the deep black color and glossy finish of tyres while protecting them from environmental elements. This product combines water as the base, silicone oil for shine, formalin as a preservative, NP9 as a surfactant for emulsification, and optional dye and fragrance for aesthetic and sensory appeal.

Ingredients and Percentages:

  • Water: 73.75% (Base solvent)
  • Silicone Oil: 20% (Primary ingredient for the glossy shine)
  • Formalin: 2% (Preservative to prolong shelf life)
  • Dye (optional): As desired (Black dye for deeper tire coloration)
  • Perfume (optional): 0.25% (Lavender fragrance for a pleasant scent)
  • NP9 (Nonylphenol Ethoxylate): 4% (Surfactant for emulsifying silicone oil)

Equipment Needed:

  1. Mixing tank (non-reactive, with a stirrer)
  2. Measuring tools (scales, beakers, and graduated cylinders)
  3. Safety gear (gloves, goggles, and a mask)

Preparation Process:

Step 1: Safety Precautions

  • Wear appropriate protective gear, as you will be handling chemicals like formalin and NP9.
  • Work in a well-ventilated area to avoid exposure to fumes.

Step 2: Prepare the Water Base

  • Begin with 73.75% water in the mixing tank. Ensure the water is clean and at room temperature.
  • Stir the water gently to create a uniform base.

Step 3: Add NP9 (Nonylphenol Ethoxylate)

  • Slowly add 4% NP9 into the water while stirring. NP9 acts as an emulsifier, helping the silicone oil mix with water without separating.
  • Continue stirring until the solution becomes clear and uniform.

Step 4: Incorporate Silicone Oil

  • Gradually add 20% silicone oil to the mixture while stirring continuously. Silicone oil provides the glossy finish to the tyres.
  • Stir thoroughly to ensure the silicone oil is evenly emulsified in the water-NP9 solution.

Step 5: Add Formalin

  • Add 2% formalin to the mixture as a preservative. This prevents microbial growth and ensures a longer shelf life for the tyre shine.
  • Stir the mixture for several minutes to evenly distribute the formalin.

Step 6: Add Dye (Optional)

  • If a deeper black appearance is desired, add a small amount of black dye to the mixture.
  • Stir thoroughly until the dye is fully dissolved and evenly dispersed.

Step 7: Add Perfume (Optional)

  • Introduce 0.25% lavender perfume to the mixture for a pleasant fragrance.
  • Stir until the perfume is well blended.

Step 8: Final Mixing

  • Continue stirring the mixture for 10-15 minutes to ensure all components are uniformly distributed. The final product should appear smooth and homogeneous.

Quality Control and Testing:

  • Homogeneity: Ensure no separation occurs between the water and silicone oil.
  • Gloss Test: Apply a small amount of the tyre shine on a tyre to test its performance and appearance.
  • pH Testing: Check the pH to ensure it is within a safe range for use.

Packaging and Storage:

  • Pour the tyre shine into clean, labeled bottles or containers.
  • Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and heat.
  • Ensure containers are tightly sealed to prevent evaporation and contamination.

This formulation creates a high-quality tyre shine that leaves tyres looking new and glossy. Let me know if you'd like further refinements or assistance!
